How to Deal with an Unwanted Pregnancy

Looks like you fell into that .01% category for Yasmin-takers who then get pregnant anyways. You know you could go out and buy the morning after pill to take care of this problem, but are you sure that’s what you want to do? You never truly imagined you’d be in this situation…and…you sort of do want to have a baby…one day at least.
Let’s weigh your options:
· If you catch your pregnancy in time, you can take the morning after pill. This prevents an embryo from forming, or, if it’s formed already, the pill prevents it from attaching to your uterine wall and becoming viable.
· If you don’t catch it in time, your options become considerably more serious. If you decide you want to terminate a pregnancy, you can get an abortion. Call a local family planning center to find out more information about timing, cost, and location.
· If you decide you want to carry through with the pregnancy, but don’t want to keep the baby, then adoption would be your absolute best bet. You can consider an open- or closed-adoption, which means you can opt to continue to be in touch with your child and his/her new parents, or to sign off on any communication.
· Last but not least, you can have the baby, keep the baby, and raise the baby. Okay, so maybe the timing isn’t quite right. Maybe you don’t at this point have a partner who is committed to becoming a father. Maybe your family will be disappointed in you. But one thing is certain—if you feel that little baby growing inside you and can’t imagine parting with it, then this will be the choice for you. Who cares about timing—you’ll love this baby no matter what, accident or not.
